Looking Back: INTRA-FESTATION 2022

Before this academic year started, the Society of Applied Mathematics of UPLB held its annual intra-organization event with the title “INTRA SAM-UP: HA? HANONG GANAP SAM-UP: HINGA SAGLIT, HARUROT ULIT.” This year 2022, a two-day event was conducted from July 9 to 10 — a welcoming ceremony during the first day and an awarding ceremony during the second — having memes as the central idea, which made this event light, fun, and interactive. Various activities were prepared by the Intra SAM-UP 2022 Team for the members such as the Zoom Auction, Meme Competition, Welcoming Ceremony, and Awarding Ceremony.

The Bidding Week was held in SAM-UP’s Facebook group. Several items were donated by the members that were being sold throughout a week-long bidding. The Welcoming Ceremony was held via Zoom and was filled with interactive games for the members: Guesserist-Scribbl.io, Hugador Pusoy-Dos, and Know-it-all Jeopardy. These games really brought out the competitiveness of SAM-UP, but more importantly, they provided a breath of fresh air from the draining second semester.

The next day, the event team held a live-streamed announcement of awardees. Team 2 bagged the title of Intra SAM-UP 2022 Champion, while Mary Allyza Giolagon’s team “gusto ko po makita sebongs" won first place in the meme competition. Also, some quirky and befitting awards were given to members, notable for their appreciation and commendable works on the organization throughout the second semester. It ended with remarks from the head of the event, Tristan John Hernandez, congratulating and appreciating all the members and participants of the event. As the event nearly closed, all smiles and laughter were the only things that shines throughout the ceremony and the online team building promptly ended.

This event also channeled volunteerism within the members as the team lacked manpower during the preparation. Indeed, the success of the event would not be possible without the Intra SAM-UP 2022 Team, the volunteers, and our ever supportive alumni. More appreciably, Tristan John Hernandez, the event head of Intra SAM-UP 2022, has greatly poured their best to deliver such a fun and wonderful event to the members.
