ARE YOU LOST? Tambayan and Kwentuhan Session

LOST NO MORE!

Freshmen students from the Mathematics Division of the University of the Philippines Los Baños participated in “Are you Lost? Tambayan and Kwentuhan Session” presented by the Society of Applied Mathematics of UPLB (SAM-UP) last September 6, 2021, via Zoom.

This disco bar-themed event was a chill, yet informative session which aimed to give the students an idea about their respective degree programs, as well as the job opportunities that await them after graduation. This was also able to provide pieces of advice about time management, academic preparation, and effective sleeping patterns for productive learning.

More than 80 curious freshmen students took part in the activities prepared by the organization. Some members of the organization shared their personal experiences as mathematics majors and how they coped with the transition from physical to online learning setup. On the other hand, the students were also given the chance to ask their upperclassmen about practices that helped them survive the challenging mathematics courses they took over the past semesters.

As part of the advocacy of the event to help the freshmen students be prepared for their upcoming mathematics courses, the organization gave reviewers which covered basic knowledge they need during their calculus classes.
