Students Take a Tour Behind the Scenes with SAM-UP

The Society of Applied Mathematics of UPLB (SAM-UP) became up close and personal with the orientees as they conducted their orientation with the theme “Behind The Scenes” held at Jollibee, Lopez Avenue last August 15, 2017.

The said orientation showed the different achievements, activities, and goals of the organization. One of the achievements highlighted by the organization was having the title of being the Overall Champion in the PalaCASan 2016, a sports league for various organizations under the College of Arts and Sciences. Important national events of the organization, such as Math in Action and Inter-Elementary Mathematics Quiz, were discussed during the orientation.

Not only were there discussions about the organization but also testimonials from the members and advisers that were shared during the said orientation for the orientees to have a glimpse of what SAM-UP is like behind the scenes.

One sharing was heard from Monique Yglesias. According to her, SAM-UP helped her mould her leadership and interpersonal skills when the organization let her spearhead the Inter-Elementary Mathematics Quiz despite the fact that she was just a new member and the said event was a national event.

The orientation was all in all a success thanks to Emerald Fajanilag being the head of the event, the emcees Kevin Cruz and Crystal Perez, the Executive Committee who introduced the activities and events of the organization, and the rest of the members who helped the orientees in getting up close and personal with the organization by showing them what SAM-UP is like behind the scenes.
