With the aim of giving back to the people and bringing joy and love to the community, Society of Applied Mathematics of UPLB (SAM-UP) conducted its annual outreach program in Bahay ni Maria located at Calamba, Laguna last May 06.
Bahay Ni Maria is a home for the abandoned elderly and children with special needs managed by the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Fatima.
The lolas and the care takers enjoyed the prepared mini games, intermissions from the organization members and the lolas, and gift giving during the said event. Even the members participated in the fun-filled program.
“Sobrang fulfilling sa pakiramdam after ng outreach. Iba yung saya after makita yung ngiti ng mga lola, especially dahil malapit talaga puso ko mga matatanda. Masarap sa feeling na nakapagbigay tayo ng tulong in our own simple way. Yung experience ng outreach is one of the things that I would keep in my heart,” Alyssa Alava, the event head, said in an interview.
Since 2016, Bahay Ni Maria has been the organization's mother beneficiary.
