Society of Applied Mathematics of University of the Philippines Los Banos (SAMUP) received good feedback from the students who participated in their Open Tambayan which was held at the Math Building Quadrangle on Nov. 10.
In line with the celebration of SAM-UP’s 32nd anniversary, the Open Tambayan was pegged with the theme “Elbi Nights” as it depicted a festive Thursday night in your usual LB Square hangout. SAM-UP held a juice pong and Go Sing contest that was enjoyed by several participants.
Several posts on Twitter tagged the organization to express the fun SAM-UP brought to the students amidst their “hell week”.
“It was really fun and a good stress reliever for a stressful week brought by our academic activities. I really enjoyed it and I really am thankful that I was able to share my talent during the Go Sing contest,” Sherrie Lago, BS Mathematics student said during an interview with The Chronicles scribe.
The event was participated not only by the students and non-UPLB students but also by the members of SAM-UP. Ms. Destiny Lutero and Mr. Edd Francis Felix, senior and junior advisers of SAM-UP, joined the organization in the celebration as they started the fun by being the first one to showcase their singing talents in the Go Sing contest.
Moreover, Wyre Underground of UPLB added excitement to the MB Quadrangle as they gave a groovy intermission number for the students as they enjoyed their food.
“SAM-UP’s Open Tambayan wasn’t a usual Open Tambayan. I really had a great night when I attended there with my blocmates. The foods they served were also delicious. It was a great job for SAM-UP,” Francis Raymundo, BS Chemical Engineer student exclaimed.
Furthermore, Chowking, Hanarose Sizzlers, Monthy’s Lechon Cebu, Best Print Copy Center, Big D’s Ramen, and Wantoks Place, sponsors of the event, helped SAM-UP in making the Open Tambayan possible.
